Message From the President

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I reflect on the continued growth and impact Mount Wachusett Community College has on the communities we serve. As we look to the future, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing transformative educational opportunities that empower our students to thrive personally, professionally, and as engaged citizens.
At MWCC, our mission is clear: we are dedicated to advancing the intellectual, economic, and cultural vitality of our region by providing accessible, high-quality education. Our diverse academic offerings and support programs serve a wide range of learners, from those just exploring college through early college access programs to those seeking to change or enhance their careers.
Our vision is equally compelling: we envision a community where every learner has the support, resources, and opportunity to succeed. Through innovative teaching, robust partnerships, and a focus on student-centered practices, we strive to create an environment where all individuals can achieve their fullest potential.
Central to our work are the values that guide our actions:
- Equity and Inclusion: We are committed to creating a welcoming environment for all students and community members.
- Student Success: We prioritize the academic, personal, and professional growth of our students, ensuring they are prepared to excel in a rapidly changing world.
- Collaboration: We recognize the power of working together—whether with students, faculty, staff, or external partners—to foster a culture of support and achievement.
- Integrity: We act with honesty, transparency, and responsibility in all our dealings, upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.
Our mission, vision, and values aren't just words; they're the bedrock of everything we do at MWCC. We're fully committed to helping our students succeed and build a brighter future for themselves and our community. We achieve this by intentionally aligning careers in North Central Massachusetts, offering dedicated career and transfer counseling, and cultivating strong partnerships with businesses, industries, and four-year colleges both within and beyond the region. These efforts ensure our students have access to diverse opportunities within an inclusive and supportive environment.
As we move forward, we do so with the knowledge that each member of our community plays a critical role in helping to shape the future of MWCC. Together, we are not only preparing students for academic and professional success, but also nurturing individuals who are compassionate, engaged, and ready to make meaningful contributions to the world. MWCC has always been, and continues to be, a place where everyone can learn, grow, and succeed.
James Vander Hooven, Ed.D.
