ANT 111. Cultural Anthropology. 3 Credits.
This course is an exploration of human cultural diversity. Students learn about the field of anthropology and its approach to studying other cultures, including holism, qualitative research, and cultural relativism. The course will introduce some of the key concepts that anthropologists use to understand cultural differences, including economic systems and subsistence strategies, political organization, religion, language, kinship, identity, gender and global inequalities, drawing examples from a wide range of cultures both within and outside of the United States. Prerequisites: ENG 098, FYE 101, RDG 098, or placement.
